Producers of Quality Proteaceae
Plants and Flowers
Autumn was a busy time at Ausflora;
Mother's Day is always a busy time for Flower Production with many flowers going to Wholesale Florists around Australia.
Our Nursery was also busy with many plants going out to Landscapers, Retailers and Flower growers across Australia and Tubestock going out to growers in Australia and Europe.
The Annual Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show (MIFGS) was held in March at the Carlton Gardens, this is always a wonderful event to visit, there were many beautiful Floral arrangements in the Royal Exhibition Building and some inspirational ideas for Gardens.
Pictured below are two of our favourite floral displays by Peninsula Wild Flower and Rosaline Flowers that featured Protea flowers, hover cursor over picture for more information.

Winter is a great time to plant Proteaceae plants in the ground, be sure to plant them in free draining soil, many Protea and Leucadendron varieties will also do well in pots and raised beds.
Leucadendrons come in a variety of different foliage colours and textures, the Leucadendrons below are all great for Winter colour

On the 23rd of May we Hosted a Sustainable Floristy Worshop held by Encouraging Women In Horticulture (EWHA) and Rita Feldmann of Rita Feldmann Flowers
Rita is a talented Floral artist and does not use Floral Foam in her creations "We do not use any floral foam because it is a plastic material that does not biodegrade yet becomes a microplastic very quickly. Because of its crumbly nature and use in water, it can very easily make its way into the sewer and storm water systems and into the ocean, in addition to producing a large amount of non-biodegradable landfill. Over the years I have designed many different structures that allow for huge aerial displays and freestanding arrangements and I’ve found that not using foam has directed me to a whole new level of creativity and design"
The weather was perfect on the day of the event and everyone went home with a beautiful bouquet.
We proudly sponsored The Landscape Show held by Landscaping Victoria Master Landscapers on the 27th of June at Moonee Valley Racecourse
The event is a great opportunity for Networking and gaining inspiration and education from the Landscaping and Allied Industries
